Managing hygiene in right way...

Maintaining personal hygiene is common thing every women follows but managing hygiene in right way is essential in the holistic approach of menstrual health management. We suggest you seven tips to manage hygiene and health to have a happy period.



During those 5 menstrual days...women should follow following practices to have hygienic period.

1. Wash hands with soap or hand wash before and after cleaning genital organ. Soap will remove all dirt and invisible microbes we may carry by touching different objects. Get rid of microbes.

2. Vagina itself is self-cleaning in nature with its natural secretions and discharge. So never use scented and hard soaps as they will alter pH of vagina that may favour growth of unwanted microbes. Use plain water or luke warm water. 

2. Direction of washing have impact in proper hygiene management. Always wash in downward direction(front to backward) i.e., from uterine opening towards anal opening but never in upward direction as washing in upward direction may lead to carrying anal waste to vaginal opening which cause infection. We are intended to avoid infection by washing hence follow correct direction. 

3. Keep your genital area clean and dry.

4. Use feminine hygiene devices properly. 

a.  If you are using cloth pads, change it regularly and reuse cloth pads only after proper washing and drying under sun. 
b. If you are using pads, change it for every 4-6 hours and dispose them properly in respective bins by wrapping in newspaper
c. If you are using tampons, don't leave without changing for too long. As blood soaked tampons inside vagina may cause toxic shock syndrom. 
d. If you are using menstrual cups, empty the cup before getting filled and sterilize in hot water before using again. 

5. Change feminine hygiene aids regularly eventually after soaking or 4-6 hours whichever is earlier.

6. Bath with luke warm water and wear washed and dried cloths. 

7. Dispose used sanitary napkins and tampons by wrapping in newspaper into dustbins. Never flush them as they block pipe channels. 

During rest of 23 days in the month, women need to follow few practices to have healthy body and happy periods. 

1. Drink more water 

2. Have 6- 8 hours sound sleep

3. Follow active life style

4. Never skip your break fast

5. Take good food which supplies iron as iron strengthens womens body

6. Take food enriched with vitamin C as vit-C helps in absorbing iron

7. Take good food as your food is your medicine.  Prefer home cooked good. Avoid food packed in plastic covers for long time.
